FAQ

Everything you need to know about training with Ray. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Email hello@rayfit.com.

How is Ray different from other fitness apps?

Most fitness apps are workout libraries: thousands of exercises, and you still have to figure out what to do. Ray tells you exactly what to do and adapts in the moment, whether you’re tired, sore or short on equipment.

How does the AI part work?

Ray learns from every workout: your feedback, your preferences and how you perform. It uses all of that to make your program more personal over time, the way a good trainer gets to know you.

Is Ray a person or an app?

An app, with a trainer inside. Ray is made possible by AI, but what you get is a coach who talks with you while you train, changes the session in the moment, and remembers what worked. The free week is there so you can test that yourself.

Who is Ray for?

Ray is for busy adults who know exercise matters but struggle to fit it in consistently. You don’t need experience, a gym membership or a plan. Ray tells you exactly what to do in every session and learns more about you as you go.

What equipment do I need?

Whatever you have. Ray adapts to anything from bodyweight-only to a full gym. If you want the widest range of exercises, a set of dumbbells is a great place to start.

What kind of workouts will I do?

Strength training is the foundation, with conditioning, cardio, stretching and mobility built around your goals and what you enjoy.

How long are the workouts?

Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Tell Ray how much time you have, and it’ll make those minutes count.

How much does Ray cost?

Your first week is free. After that, it’s $19.99/mo month to month, $13.33/mo on a 3-month plan ($39.99), or $10/mo on an annual plan ($119.99).

What happens when the free week ends?

You’ll get a reminder before you’re charged. If you keep going, your plan starts. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your iPhone’s Settings under Subscriptions, anytime. No calls, no hoops.

How do refunds work?

Payments go through Apple’s App Store, so refund requests go to Apple. If something isn’t right, email hello@rayfit.com and we’ll take a look.

Can Ray adapt around injuries or low energy?

Yes. When you set up, tell Ray about any injuries or sensitive areas. Before each workout you can say you’re tired or sore, and Ray adjusts the session before you start.

Do I have to schedule workouts in advance?

No. Ray can build a schedule for you, but you can add, move or skip workouts anytime.

I travel a lot. Can Ray work in a hotel gym?

Yes. Set up more than one location, or just tell Ray what equipment you have when you start, and it’ll build the session around it.

What if I miss a week?

Life happens. Ray adjusts your plan so you can pick back up without starting over.

Does Ray talk to me while I train?

Yes. Ray coaches you out loud and hands-free: it counts reps, times your rest and keeps you going. You can play your own music or podcasts at the same time, and Ray adjusts its audio to fit around them.

Will Ray count my reps?

It can. If you turn it on, Ray uses your phone’s camera to track your body position and count reps automatically. The video is processed on your phone and never uploaded.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Ray works on its own, but it also has an Apple Watch app and connects to Apple Health, so it can take your other activity into account when it plans your week.

What devices does Ray work on?

Ray is on iPhone today. We’re working on Android. Join the waitlist and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready.

Do you share my data?

No. We don’t sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising. Health data from Apple Watch is only used to personalize your training.

If Ray uses my camera, where does the video go?

Nowhere. Rep counting is optional, and the video is processed on your phone. It’s never uploaded.

I have an idea for Ray. Where do I send it?

We’d love to hear it. Email hello@rayfit.com.

Does Ray replace an in-person trainer?

No. A good in-person trainer is the gold standard, and if you can train with one, you should. Ray is for the millions of people who never will: a real plan and real coaching, at a price almost anyone can manage.

What if I’m a complete beginner?

That’s exactly who Ray is built for. Ray explains every exercise, coaches you through each rep out loud, and adjusts the difficulty to where you are today.

Stronger every day.
